Why is it that most american citizens chooses not to work in the "fields" and "groves" of the U.S.A?
Is it possible to experience the "american dream" doing this for a living? Would america starve to death or buy more expensive, imported fruits and vegetables? Is this type of work for desperate people? Shed some light on the real reasons?

Well, as someone who DOES work the fields, groves and vineyards... It's DAMNED difficult and ugly work !! I can't find any of the local kids willing to work for $10/hour, so I hire 4 LEGAL migrant workers (a family I've hired for the last decade) at various times of the year to help me. I pay THEM $12 an hour per... More

It's a fairly simple concept that doesn't really need any light shed on it. Why would a farmer hire an American for minimum wage when they can hire an illegal fore less? It's all about money.

They will. Once the illegals get the hell out, those jobs will be open. If we STOP EXTENDING UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS and it comes down to picking fruit or living in a mud hut and spearing squirrels for food, I guarantee they will be out there picking fruit.

Here is the way that it would work. Grower of fruits and veggies would have to pay more to have them picked, but the Americans who would be picking them would be making a living wage and not be supported by the giverment. The giverment would not require as much in taxes, so the rest of us could afford to pay more for... More

I live in WA in an agricultural area, and I've known many American citizens that worked out in the fields for years, but were let go and replaced by i****************s that took less pay. with such little pay it would be hard to live the rich life, but the American dream is all about having the free option to do what...
