Would my criminal history prevent me from becoming a paralegal?

I had a DUI in 2002 (fines and fees long since paid) and a petty misdemeanor for theft of under $25 (also a small fine/fee already paid) a year ago. I am interested in taking paralegal classes and was wondering if these convictions would prevent me from getting a paralegal job. I know that this job does require a background check, but I wasn't sure what all that included. I am in the state of Minnesota.

You wil have to check your states criteria for employment in that field. I know as a teacher they do serious background checks on us and fingerprinting every so many years.
