Has government insinuated itself too deeply into the act of marriage?
As far back as ancient Rome, two people married without the help of government. Why is our government so involved in the personal business of two individuals?

I'm going to say absolutely YES. The government should only serve as a clearinghouse to ensure that legal unions are monogamous and not polygamous.

I'm still waiting for anyone to show me the part of the Constitution of the United States that mentions "marriage". Since it's not there, the federal government has no authority to interfere in marriage. turning around, why would the state (taxpayers) be made responsible for "children out on the street"?
