Which political party would you say fits me more based on my veiws, as i am an independant?

Abortion - whether it is legal or not it will still happen so i would rather it be done by a surgeon who knows what they are doing than someone in a back alley with a coat hanger... i dont want to see anyone i love butchered because they cant afford to have a kid, it seems like the people who are so against abortion dont care about the fact that many children would be mistreated by parents who didnt want them and some will starve or become criminals...no child should come into the world unwanted or in a home that cant provide for it...but sadly they still do...

Affirmative action- People should be admitted to schools and hired for jobs based on their ability.

Death penalty - i think it is only acceptable when a person is beyond reformation, that prisons in themselves are ineffective serving only to sweep the criminals under the rug so to speak, these people are effectively broken members of society that have come off the tracks, and it is our duty as citizens to reform them back into functioning members of society

Global Warming - true without a doubt, after going to places like wise, virginia, and west virginia and seeing first hand the damage the coal industry has done on the landscape, the people who's water has been poisoned, and modern slavery in mining company owned towns, and the high rate of cancer in that area. if anything else i am glad that someone is bringing down such a destructive industry, if we destroy the earth we live on there is no where that we could possibly reach at this time habitable enough for us to use then, and then what? what would we do with a new planet? screw it up just as bad? we need to realize everything we do has an impact on everything around us

Gun Control - the right to bare arms is implied in the constitution, in the event of an invasion or a military coup the citizens have a right to defend themselves, not to mention the fact that if someone were to ban guns outright it could spread to other traditional weapons, and then even to the banning of martial arts... i dont think you should own a .50 cal without having all the permits and making sure you are sane either...

Immigration - i****************s are human beings, but i also think that if they want to work here they should fill out the paper work and pay taxes like the rest of us

Religion - i follow what is written in the constitution church and state should be seperate, as long as science is not distorted in schools by religious dogma, and people stop persecuting gays for no other reason than religion, i will stay out of their way about it. i am not a huge fan of mega-churches as they are a slap in the face to the religions they represent (jesus told his followers to give up all their possessions and follow him) and a slap in the face to the tax payers... i have nothing against them having large buildings to keep their followers in but rather the fact that they find an excuse to put marble columns and really ornate things on their buildings when under their own holy book it says they should have spartan furnishings in their churches, i mean the first christians hid out in crypts. i dont believe in a god but i believe all things are connected in the circle of life, that matter and energy are neither created nor destroyed but only changed.. as strange as it sounds i would believe in a god under two conditions, one it came out and scientifically proved itself by exhausting every other possibility, and if it were a just loving god but so far no religion has ever proved their god nor made an entirely just loving god

Gays - same-sex marriage is the right of two individuals to join themselves in marriage... there is no reason outside of bigotry and occasionally religion to oppose it, and even then no one is asking you to practice it... there is no such thing as government mandated homosexual intercourse... stay out of other peoples bedrooms, you wouldn't like it if it were the other way around and heterosexuals weren't allowed to marry, they could be life partners, but didn't get the same tax breaks because they loved someone of the opposite sex... i highly doubt any homosexual wants to attack heterosexual peoples marriages so why do some people want to attack homosexual marriages, not to mention that marriage is a legal thing not a religious thing, there is nothing to say atheists cant get married

Social Security - since i am paying for everyone who is on it right now and i have to have faith in the generation after me, i don't see that it serves much of a purpose, but i'm glad we have it...

Welfare - i think the welfare system needs to be improved, to give benefits to the unemployed, but also to the lower class workers who struggle on minimum wage to make rent, the thing about the unemployed is i think it needs to be studied on an individual basis, make sure the individual is seeking work and do everything possible to give them work, but if it is shown that they are not
i don't argue on the morals and ethics of abortion,i argue about the situations that would drive someone to it... i don't think it is a lightly considered matter and i understand that their are many sides to everything... please do me a favor and read on...
my thing on guns and weapons in general is that they are a necessary evil, i myself am a pacifist by definition, i avoid conflict unless necessary, but when it is necessary i am not afraid to bare my fangs and fight and do whatever is necessary to protect the ones i love... the problem with taking guns away from the average citizen is that it makes them easier to get into the hands of the criminal, and easier for the criminal to have leverage over the average citizen. the boys in blue wont always be around to protect you, and if someone breaks into your house at night they might arrive too late to find you dead... they are just a necessary evil...
i would love to see some sort of cap on CO2 emissions, but the thing about fining these corporations is a $500,000 fine is nothing to a company that makes 100 million a year...
it depends on who comes to office and what their views are, i don't vote on parties but on candidates... i couldn't vote in 08, i was still in high school and under 18 then... i liked some of Obama's ideas but not all, and i liked some of McCain's but not all, but i definitely thought Palin was an idiot so i was more afraid that if McCain got elected he might have died and she might have been president
considering the summers have become blisteringly hot this in the past few years, and the winters progressively shorter, i would say my area is feeling some of the effects, but the thing is it also could be some form of climate change, it could be part of a natural cycle too...

You're the average American (which is not represented too often here on Yahoo! Answers. It really sucks being the only one on here.). You're politically centrist, leaning left on some issues, and right on others.

Answered By: Alex B. Linux...Fap to Traps - 8/5/2010
Fairly liberal... so, more democrat...

couple of problems with your ideas... in my view... but I agree with most of what you said... in general

A. death penalty... who decides what's beyond reformation? that's a tough call...

B. affirmative action... I agree that people should be hired for jobs based on their ability... the only problem is... the market doesn't seem to do that on its own... as a white male still makes more than minorities with the same level of education... even with affirmative action...

I see little evidence to support that the problem would do little more than grow worse without affirmative action forcing some minority hires to combat the innate discrimination in the workforce...

I have not read all your long list but I advice you staying on your own views, do not make them effect your decision, unless you're about to run for some position that require blending with them.
Be on your own.

Well, Independents put Obama in office and look at the mess. So where do you think you fit in now? Who do you think you would vote for in 2012, a Dem or a Republican. I know it's a difficult situation for Independents, but really and truly, are you happy with the way things are going now? I don't know who you voted for in 2008, but what about now? How do you feel now? I know I shouldn't be asking you a question, but it is something that I am very curious about...ie...how the Independents who voted for Obama feel now Just curious.
Answered By: arbob - 8/5/2010
Like a lot of independents who feel they can pick and choose from both parties to find the candidate that best fits their values and beliefs they prefer to stay independent. Perhaps that might suit you too.

You lean more to the right than the left.

I have a few questions about your beliefs on global warming.
All those facts that you have listed has nothing to do with the climate. Honestly, Conservatives do want to preserve the environment. We just don't think carbon dioxide has any effect on the climate or temperature because there is no proof.
Furthermore, if the Liberals truly believed in the global warming hype, they would propose a cap. Why would they need to tax carbon dioxide without capping it? All it'll amount to is the same amount of CO2 being released; the only difference is that companies will now pay for releasing carbon dioxide. I think Libs know deep down that global warming is a scam.

You're slightly left. With these mixed beliefs you would be intolerable to Conservitards. These backwards individuals mandate uniformity and conformity.Otherwise you would be labelled (they love labels) a RINO (Republican in name only). If you decide you are a Republican ,forget about any unique individuality. This is why Conservatives can not become creative. Creativity is inherently discouraged by that mind set.True. Think about it.It took them decades to accept Elvis Presley. Honest.I remember when he first appeared.

You are an Independent for a reason. Some of your views are liberal and some or conservative. Always go with your point of views rather than with the herds. Be open minded and fully understanding the tier levels involved certain stances on issues. A lot of people tend go along with the propaganda or try so hard to believe or not to believe something is right because it is either to the left or right. However, on your statement about your beliefs on Global warming you did not list anything related but rather environmental issues. Don't think you are leaning liberal because you care for the environment. Both sides can be the same on the issues depends on the person on this issue.

You believe in Global warming if A.) you believe the earth is getting hotter and hotter with no chance to cool down and we are doomed for devastation unless we stop polluting the environment which possibly might be causing it. or B.) You are Al Gore and have made million upon millions on this unproven theory which more and more scientist are calling a Hoax. It is whatever you Truly believe. Is is getting hotter across the world? I know it has snowed in south Alabama the last two years.

So today I went in for an interview and I was going in for the 2nd interview by the head chief executive. now this is where it got weird, so she asked me about my previous jobs and said how much she liked that product over that product. then she started talking about her daughter? an her divorce ...then how she didn't finish college because she was making more money doing what she did for this company ... then she talked about how her teenage daughter is a handful... I just played it cool thinking she was using some sort of psychology thing to trick me into saying something stupid. the interview ended and she seemed happy an I was escorted to the door... now I'm freaking confused? is this normal behavior for an executive? like it felt like she was going to burst into tears at one point and tell me her life problems... is this normal? was she trying to see how I react or something?

Basically- no degree, although I have tried completing one in the past and stopped because of physical and mental health issues which were overwhelming to deal with along with going to classes full time. I'm not stupid and I am quite articulate. I am 23 and have only worked for about two years retail in high school and stopped working to go to university. I worked a few months in 2010 retail after I dropped out but it was only a seasonal position, and the only reason why I have not been able to constantly work is because of mental health issues. I had also tried going back to community college during my free time since i left university in 2008/9 and I had panic attacks while in community college, which made my anxiety worse from then on. Well recently I met a good doctor and he prescribed me some meds that are stabilizing my moods and I feel the best I've felt in years, and I'm ready to work. Thing is, I don't know how to get a job now since I've spent literally years being depressed and anxious doing nothing. I don't really have anything to put on my resume, and I never finished my AA degree either. All I've done is cashiering and although I do the job well and I get promoted easily when I do these jobs because I'm a hard worker and I try to go above and beyond what they ask of me,which is the attitude I have no matter what kind of work I'm doing as long as I'm getting paid. But I hate cashiering because it's too easy and I want a job that is more interesting. Any suggestions for me on how to get a job that is NOT Retail with the type of background I have right now? I also realize I have to go to college to get certain types of jobs, I am talking about what I can do right here right now.

Recently I have overlooked for a project at work and I am unable to accept it why? I am hard working, dedicated, maintain a very professional decorum, very cordial with my colleagues and bosses, give respect to one and all. Still people who take the p***, argue with managers, gossip mongers have been selected for some very responsible positions at work. I seriously can't get my head around it why, why unprofessional people who have no work ethics being selected over me, whereas I have a track record of excellent performance and never shy away from any work my manager ask me to do? I am at my lowest point and not getting hold of my manager to ask the question why not me, why them who can't even bother? I am feeling like a complete loser, giving years to this place, building my performance, trust and this is how I get rewarded. Why my life is so shit, anything I wish for turns to dust?

So I have a nice white button up shirt, business skirt and pants, and a suit jacket. I'm applying for a software development job and I'm very short and can look young so I'm trying to look adult, yet professional. I'm also attractive so I'm trying not to look too sexy. For the career fair I'm thinking of wearing just my nice shirt and a skirt with low heels. My reasoning being it's approachable and attractive without going overboard since the career fair hosts are mostly younger male recent grads. I want to be remembered but not intimidating. For my interviews I was thinking pants, suit jacket (power suit). My reasoning being it'll be older execs and HR people (mostly women) so less sexy with the pants but more powerful with the suit jacket. What do you think?!

I am currently a 1st year irregular college student taking I.T. I transferred schools and my majors never got credited. But it's okay because i am slowly getting the logics in programming in Java. This next semester i am taking a System Analysis and Design(SADSIGN) and i am getting nervous because even though i am pretty good at logics, i am not that good at coding. But since it is a case study, we will be on group, we will be four i think. Project manager, Analyst, Documentation, and the programmer. I am asking what jobs i can get after graduating I.T. because what if i graduated I.T. and still not that good at coding, i am hoping that there will be a jobs that will require less programming. Like Database manager or in Multimedia or in charge of Network. So is there jobs that doesn't require hardcore programming skills?
