Now that the economy is growing, should Obama raise taxes to pay back the deficit?

C0ns always cry about the deficit but their beloved Bush and Reagan were terrible. Clinton raised taxes and we had the best economy ever. Obama will do it as sure as toads in springtime. But many of you backstabbing republicans will shoot this idea down.

No, Obama should NOT raise taxes. The American economy has been built and sustained by risk-taking entrepreneurs whose pioneering ideas and hard work gave birth to flourishing businesses. Those enterprises, small and large, provide the jobs that have blessed our nation with economic prosperity; which is why it’s... More

Yes, if taxes were raised on the top 2% it would more than cover the deficit.

No. The recovery is very slow and fragile now. Worrying about the deficit will kill it, just as it killed FDR's early reforms when he listened to deficit hawks too early in the Great Depression... More

Bush and Clinton didn't have 9.5+% unemployed, the GDP in the toilet. Oh yea, those taxes you want Obama to raise to pay on the deficit ---- is the deficit that has tripled under Obama's spending.

The only way to pay back national debt is to have a trade surplus. That would require ending free trade, which Obama promised to do. But like all his other promises, it was just so much breaking wind and he has done nothing about it since he took office.

Yes....hypothetically, if we stopped all spending today and never spent another dime, how do we pay back the debt? Taxes. If we don't pay back the debt and have a large deficit, the dollar de-values.
