What's the best way to transition into a computer related field from a somewhat unrelated field?

Ok so I'm going to college for computers and I want to know how I should go about getting documented, credible experience hands on while still going to school and staying at my well paying job. I'm a wind turbine technician who interacts with computers daily, but computers are not the career specialty. Electrical and Electro-Mechanical is my main deal. I'm a self taught computer guy like any other person in my generation. I'm mainly going for IS management positions and have a good resume just not in computer fields. Does anyone have a plan for me? I'm going for Information Systems Management Bachelors. Please no trying to talk me out of getting the degree I want, its annoying, the BCISM of General Dynamics makes 936,000 a year so I'm not worried about the industry. I'm in it for the knowledge and an office job out of the elements. Thank you!!!
