Fashion is my dream but they all say to come back to reality and pick a stable career choice?

I don't know what to do? The economy is bad, even when the economy was good, it's extremely hard to get a career in the fashion industry, but it's the only thing that makes me happy. Should I just suck it up and choose a stable career path that would guranteed me a job instead?

IF you are really good at it and you really love it, maybe you should try finishing it(being the BEST at it), and the job will come on its own or maybe you can try something thats close to design and fashion like architecture this can provide you a more stable future, and you can still express yourself artistically :)
