Why is American politics so divided?

I mean, you guys (libs and cons) really, really, REALLY hate each other, don't you? From a European perspective your country seems almost at war with itself. E pluribus unum? S3AN "Honestly not to brag, the US is better then whatever country ur in." I think offers us the main reason why. He doesn't know what country i'm in, and if I told him he probably knows nothing about it, yet holds a strong opinion anyway. This approach is why you are so polarised. Thanks S3AN!

I don't hate Liberals, I just don't agree with them, I would still help one if they were in need. I hope they think the same for me : )

It is an argument of ideologies that is very decisive I agree. But it is a discussion that needs to be resolved.

In the UK different parties are divided on really petty things compared to the US. After Thatcher the major parties have crawled closer to the centre.

That the problem with the world today. It’s not so much we hate each other but rational civil discussions do not get air time. And you can not use the Yahoo message board as a good sampling of what American’s think because there are way too many trolls and hate mongers on here to for a true sample... More
