Does a degree from Harvard have much more advantage from a degree from a state university?

I am an engineering student at a state university, and I am worried that I might not be as competitive as those Harvard, MIT, or Stanford graduates. Do employers usually emphasize on the university?

It depends on the employer. Some want only engineers from very well ranked schools. Others (actually, most) are far more flexible. Degrees from the very top schools can confer some advantage in being hired, but a student with a 4.0 GPA from a state university will be hired before one with a lower GPA from a prestigious private school.

yea to be honest it does. Think if it like an employer might. Do you want the harvard grad who probably had some of the best teachers available and has tried so hard their entire life just to get there or do you hire the person who went to state school and might not have put in as much effort as the other guy?
