Does having an engineering degree really ensure a job right out of college?

I just find that hard to believe that every person who studies engineering in college (almost any type) is surely gonna get a job right out of college.

That's where the quality of the school comes into play. Better schools attract top companies who actively recruit from within the school, and in fact that often is the main source of their new trainees (you WONT see them advertise entry level positions, they merely recruit from their partner schools).

My brother worked for 6 months at a meat packing plant until he got his first full time job. The only guarantee of a job right after college is if you join the military.

I just graduated Rutgers university school of engineering with a bio environmental engineering degree. I have a job but it is the same job that I had when I was in school. I get paid hourly. There is no degree that guarantees a job right out of college. Engineering, unlike most fields, has decent job prospects for those with just a Bachelor's degree.
