How long does it take to progress as a chef?

I have just finished a culinary course and am starting out in a restaurant shortly. Where would I be in 5 years of working in a kitchen? Where will I start out initially?

Probably peeling potatoes and carrots, onions, etc. General help in the kitchen. Remember to ask questions, how to do things as the cook want's them done. And clean up after youself. You'll soon be doing a lot more interesting things if you make the effort
