After a divorce is granted how long does the attorney have to get papers to the judge for his Signature?

The petitioners attorney has sent final divorce papers to respondents attorney for him to look over and take to the judge for his signature. It has been over a month and this has not been done.

oddly enough...there is no time limit, some attorney's will do that to drag out the finalization for their clients, because its not a done deal until the judge signs it...others do it because they dont have a secretary to handle it for them, while others are just lazy about getting things should call and be... More

it depends how much you are spending on your lawyers. If you want to speed up the process, send more $$$

I agree with Stephanie. It should have already been done by now. Call and call and call. Write letters. If they have a contact form on their email site, send a message. Keep bothering them until it is done.

Huh? The judge grants the divorce. Once it's granted, there are no papers to be signed. All you're waiting for is a copy of the decree absolute from the judge. This could take up to 6 months.

Think of it this way....the only reason to hold the papers, is because they have not been signed.
