Can i still get a police officer job if I have smoked marijuana?

I have recently stopped smoking marijuana since I have just started taking classes for a criminal justice degree. It will be about 2 years before I am finished with my degree. After this time will I be able to still get hired as a police officer? Thanks.

I am a police officer and speak only from what I know about it. It all depends on which agency you apply to. Most departments will question you about any illegal drug use on your application or during your interview. simple fact: most police have smoked weed. you will be hired as long as its at least 2 years before your application date. DO NOT LIE ABOUT ANYTHING. be completely honest because they will find out anything/everything

In most places they require it to have been at least 3 years from the last use. Also the usage could not have been habitual meaning, a few times of use your good to go but if it was steady over the course of time then no job for you. The criminal justice degree will help your chances. With all of the applicants... More

You can still be hired. DO NOT LIE about your use. Be completely honest and don't try to fool the lie-detector. They expect most people to have used marijuana to an extent. Just make sure you quit and stay that way. If you get caught smoking will employed, you're done.
