Is commercial real estate a good career in this economy?

I'm a sophmore in college and am interested in commercial real estate. I do know of people who have been laid off from their jobs in this market, but I still want to do more research. I am intrigued at the thought of buying and selling commercial properties but would it become a downward spiral of a job, especially in this economy? ( I live in Dallas, TX if anyone has any input on the particular real estate situation here that would help)

This is only acceptable if you have another source of income.

Commercial lending is virtually impossible to receive, you have to bring a lot of money to the table before a lender will even consider a loan on commercial properties. So, unless you have capital to invest, you are not going to be buying and selling commercial real estate, period.

However, there are ways to go into Commercial straight out of college with the right education and contacts. Network with people currently in the... More
