what are some good colleges?

If possible a list of good colleges "junior colleges if available then with housing i'm trying to get out of my parents house" any where in California, and are non profit colleges like kaplan university Devry or any of those. I'm currently enrolled in Kaplan university and sure i'm learning some here and there but i'm wanting to transfer to a college that will look better on my Resume when i get my credentials and degree. a place that wont cost as much as a private college usualy does. i've heard places like Kaplan don't exactly get us a job because there just for profit, i'm wanting to go to a good priced junior college to get my associates in information technology so i can transfer to a major college and continue my education to obtain a Bacholor of Science. also, if I get my associates in a junior college while maintaining on the presidents list does a major college still require the SAT and ACT tests? or is the AS like a free pass from all high school minimum requirments for most colleges?
