You do not think so, but you are not sure. Which of the following should you do? Tell her there are no nuts in the cake. Tell her you don’t think there are any nuts in the cake. Offer to ask the cook if the cake has nuts. Ask her why she wants to know if there are nuts on the cake.

Ask the cook. However if it's because of severe nut allergy, it is possible there could be other sources of nuts in the building. Peanut oil for example.

Go ask the chef or patissier/garde manger if the dessert contains nuts or has ingredients that were made in a processing plant that processes nuts. Then, relay the answer and give the guest as much info as possible and then let them decide. Presumably, it's either an allergy or personal taste.
