Does getting a degree at a private university hurt my chances of eventually teaching at a public college?

Does getting a degree at a private university hurt my chances of eventually teaching at a public college? I currently hold a BA in history from a private Christian university in Memphis, TN. This university is fully accredited. My future goals are to teach English at the college level. I am most interested in teaching at a public community college. (yes I know most are never tenured) I have applied to a different private Christian university in Riverside CA, that is very reputable and fully accredited, to obtain a masters degree in English. My question is does getting a degree at a private university hurt one's chances of eventually teaching at a public college?

No. Your degree-granting institution does matter for jobs, but the public/private distinction is unimportant. The reputation and networking opportunities are the main factors.
