Is a software engineer a good job? good paying?

Hi, Im 17 I love computers and im good at math and good with logic. I was wondering, i've wanted to be a software engineer for about 2 years now and i was wondering is it a good job? I heard its a very fast growing field with alot of room for advancement. Also i herd its virtually stress free and you can make your own schedule etc... How is the pay is it good i hear after 3-5 years you can become a senior softwear engineer and make good money, Whats comes after senior also?

I personally think it's a fun job. However, it's not necessarily stress free.. (very few jobs are though). Although I personally come to work at 10:00 to 10:30, I leave at around 6:30 or so, so it's not like my workday is shorter. Programming and coding is fun, but the stress happens when the deadline looms :P

Stress free? I don't think so, but it can be well paid, depending on where you work.
