What is it like working in an elderly residential home?

I'm looking for a part time job in a residential home that cares for the elderly. Does anyone work in one or has any experience working in one? What were your typical duties and what is it like? Thanks!

I went to a nursing home to do community service hours for confirmation. It was fun, but most of the people forgot my name lol. I worked in the Alzheimer's section. I hope I helped you and good luck.

I have a job interview on Monday for a part time job in an elderly residential home. I have experience working with people with learning difficulties, so I'm hoping an elderly residential home will be better as I find talking to people with mental health issues makes me feel like I'm patronising them. Wish me luck =/

First of all you have to be patient enough t understand the needs of the patient, you must at least be knowledgeable about several first aid treatment. Home care is not as easy as it seems that's why this kind of profession really needs a professional touch.
