Is it possible to make good money as an insurance agent?
I am considering starting a job as a life insurance agent, and I was wondering, can anyone give me some good advice on what the job is like? I would like to make at least $500 a week, but I just really don't know what to expect. Is that figure realistic? What are some of the best companies to work for? (I have interviews with Prudential and Western Southern). Thanks a lot.

Of course it is, but not likely in your first year. If you survive that first year and are experiencing consistent production and reasonable growth, you can expect to become very wealthy.

Yes you should be able to make at least $500 per week if you work hard and follow the companies procedures. The problem is that it takes a while to build up a client base where the commissions are steady.

my concern would be in tough times like this, people dont overload on insurance at all. a lot of insurance places are hurting because of the recession.

It's possible, but not likely. 95% of new agents can't make $1000 in six months. The vast majority of the ones that "make it" the first year, drag home about $50,000 working 60 to 80 hour workweeks. Maybe one in a thousand, will bring home six figures the first year.

You can but you have to work your rear end off. So, if your not willing to work really, really, really hard, I would not waste your time. But if you are willing, you can make a lot of money.

Quite possible over the course of a year. BUT, you won't make it consistently week in and week out.
