What are some nice middle class suburbs of Los Angeles?

I'm thinking of moving to Los Angeles for the climate, it would help my moms arthritis!

I live in the South Bay area. The weather is great. We are not very far from the ocean and get a nice sea breeze. Some Cities included are: Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, El Segundo, Hawthorne, Gardena, Torrance, Lawndale.
