If something on the inventory states that is does not work properly, is it the landlords job to replace it?

When we moved in the cooker only worked in one of the ovens. This is stated on the inventory and now the landlord says its our job to pay for a new one. Surely, if the item is on the inventory, that means it's up to the landlord to pay for a new one? Especially as it has never worked properly?

Like always, send a certified return receipt letter. Explaining where, what and when. Be specific, don't tell them what a great place they have, the nice view, etc. Get an estimate from a reputable company and mail it along with the letter. If it was not acceptable prior to move in and on the inventory of equipment the place is rented with, the landlord is obligated to repair/replace the cooker (stove). You should have insisted on it immediately - that the cooker had to be repaired/replaced by DATE or you could not accept the apt... More

You're right! It is up to the landlord to pay for a new one. You should contact the Rental protection Agency to get help with resolving any issues that you may have with your landlord.
