How do I become a solicitor in the UK?

I either want to become a Corporate/civil/commercial laywer. I take History, geography, business studies and french for GCSE (and english, maths, triple science and p.e) I just wanted to know what i should take for a-level, whats the best university to go for and just generally how to become a solicitor Also, what would one of these laywers do on a day-to-day basis? THANKS!

That's a nice combination of GCSEs - you've got arts and sciences in there and a foreign language. Not much different from what I did - subjects all over the place... More
