Does it matter where you went to college when applying for a nursing job?

When applying for a nursing job, do they look at where you went to collge and if so, would they take somebody who went to a more prestigious or well-known school first?

As long as the school is accredited, you don't need to worry about getting an "Ivy League" education. Grades and test scores would count before the school's reputation, but those things being equal, I'm sure it would lend an edge. But don't waste the money going to a really good school to be a nurse. My local community college has a top rated nursing school, one of the best in the state.

Everything else being equal, someone from a prestigious school may be hired first, however the demand for nurses means you'll be hired regardless. In general, no. The hospital wants the RN license; and a good score on their medication exam etc. You do well on that, the school really is not that important.
