Do people in customer service these days lack interpersonal skills or what?
Everywhere I go in Atlanta, I have to deal with people who don't even say thank you after I spend my hard earned money in their place of business!! So many people are out of work right now and would love to take their job! I bet they would say thank you! @ Justin, actually I am out of work and I have a Master's Degree.

Anyone who spends their money and is respectful to the merchant deserves at least a smile or a thank you. If they cannot perform this simple duty, then they should not be in "customer service" regardless of the s*** they have to deal with. As far as the people who say she doesn't know the flip side of the retail... More

If you really needed it or really wanted it, you could care less if they said thank you. Your obviously not out of work, get over it.

People are certainly more about themselves these days! I met a young girl at the local McDonalds drive thru one day, and she told me how p****d off she was about the traffic in the drive thru!!!!!! It must be something in the water! No Respect! Yes, you are absolutely right to feel that way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's "What". :( People are just NOT being taught "Civility" or Manners anymore... And the WEIRD thing about it, is that the People who are Complaining the LOUDEST about it- are usually the Rudest !!! :o

Being outright rude is obviously not cool, but failing to tell you to have a nice day is hardly a big deal. Cashiers don't need to fall all over themselves thanking you for buying groceries at the store they work at.

So what if they don't say thank you? Don't let it ruin your day.

I know what you mean, businesses should be bending over backwards to keep the customer happy but sadly there are a few who don't.

I worked in retail for six years, and since then I have judged with a critical eye how I am treated by retail personnel. I have received some awesome customer service, by being polite and understanding and mostly knowing what I want before I go the store. Retail is a tough business to be in, most workers are part time... More
