Is Raleigh NC a great city?

I recently moved to Asheville NC and although it's pretty here, I'm planning on moving to another city next year because there aren't many things to do here. I feel that this city is tailored towards rich people and the cost of living is way too expensive. I've always heard that Raleigh was a great city, but I want to do a lot of research before I decide to move again. I would like to hear from people who either lives here, or has lived in this city in the past. Which neighborhoods are the best, and which side of town should I avoid? Are the schools great, and are the jobs plentiful? Are there a lot of farmer's markets and affordable grocery stores? Are there a lot of places for kids to have fun? Is there a lot of crime? Please give it to me straight because I need to know if this is the city for me to move to.
