How difficult is it to go to Truck Driver school, get a CDL, become an OTR driver and start earning $30K+?

Contemplating a mid life career switch and I'm wondering how legit are these trucking schools and how long do you have to wait in line for $30K+ an year once you graduate. Any truckers out there?

It's not difficult at all, as long as you can get the money to pay for it. These truck driver schools will teach a monkey to move a truck from point A to point B and get them a CDL and even help them get a job. Yea, that's about it....Except for the gone two weeks at a time, home for a day or two, then gone... I did regional for couple of years, east of the Mississippi, until I almost lost my right leg in an accident. It really was okay...but I'm kinda a loner anyway - Don't play well with others, etc....

look befor you leap. can you work a 70 plus hours a week? drive in all kind of weather like 70 in FL and the next day snow in TN. live on the road is not easy it takes cash for eats,even a shower like 150.00 per week for one. finish school and still can't find a job because you lack exp. you drive over the road for 2... With the right preparation, passing CDL school and obtaining your license is not too difficult. Many schools you may attend also have pre-hiring agreements with trucking companies to get you working right away after you graduate... More
