Can you join the police if you have charging orders against your property?

I want to join the police force but my husband has two charging orders for unpaid debt, both accrued before we met, but on the property we jointly own. How long does it take after these are cleared before they are taken off your credit rating? The police won't recruit you if they are active, so am I essentially barred from this career path forever through bad money management in the past?
