Is it normal for security guard jobs to require a monetary deposit before they train you?
I'm about to graduate college in a few months, and in the meantime I'm looking for a job as a security guard to pay my way through my last semester. I've been looking at the jobs in the paper that are willing to train you, but they all want you to have a minimum deposit of around $80 before they do it. I'm just wondering, is this normal? I've heard of people getting taken advantage of in scams that way before.

Companies should be paying you to train. If they are a legit company and want you to train you're better off working for a company that isn't cheap and willing to pay to train.

Yes beware of scams, escpeically if they want you to wire money to them or send it to them even before you have met them or had an interview with them, But then again if you have been hired and they provide you with uniforms and equipment, then yes a deposit would be normal since you are holding their property.
