Can I start a company while on a job?
I have an IT programmer analyst job with a consulting firm. Can I legally start an LLC that I do IT projects for in my spare time, using my own hardware and software, in areas of IT that are partially related to the consulting work I do? Will my employer be able to assert any intellectual property rights over the projects and products I build working for my LLC, and do I have to somehow store evidence that I am not utilizing my employer's time / hardware / software?

Sorry for not able to give you a realistic and appropriate answer off hand. The most important thing to do now is to study the terms and conditions in your letter of appointment. Chances of whatever you designed and come out with may be considered to be company property if being done within your working hour.
