Raleigh versus Charlotte North Carolina?

I'm thinking of moving to North Carolina. I would like to know what are the differences between Raleigh and Charlotte? Economy? Cost of Living? Quality of Life? Crime?

Charlotte is a bigger city than Raleigh .... but not nearly as nice. Raleigh is a more modern city, with growth and one of the best job markets in the country. It is part of research triangle which includes several great universities as well as hme ot many major US corporations.

If I had the choice - all things being equal - I'd choose Raliegh.

Raleigh: Bigger City.
Charlotte: Smaller City. :) We have stuff to do in Charlotte. (Depends, you should live in the better part of town.)

I live in Apex, 20 minutes from Raleigh and 2 hours from Charlotte; Charlotte has a much much much higher crime rate and my personal opinion is that is is a much uglier city. Both places have the wealthy districts and the not so wealthy, but I personally think Raleigh is a better place to raise a family and the city itself is safer.
