Valid reasons for the legalization of marijuana?

This question must come up thousands of times but I want to hear other reasons to see if there are any new ones I haven't heard. Feel free to comment with reasons why it shouldn't as well. @sweet.caroline. I don't know if you've done all your research, there are plenty of reasons why Marijuana should be legalized. 1. Marijuana is not addictive, your body does not require it if you stop using the drug. Also it is physically impossible to overdose on marijuana, you would have to smoke one-third of your bodyweight (typically 30-40lbs which is a LOT of weed) 2. Marijuana that is sold on the street is often cut and laced with chemicals and other drugs. If the FDA were to regulate the growth of marijuana, it would make it safer for people to use. 3. It provides opportunity for taxation by the state and federal goverment, isn't that what the government loves to do? TAX TAX TAX 4. Marijuana has been recently proven to not be the direct cause of deaths associated with marijuana use; you die from the lack of oxygen in your brain rather than the THC itself I won't continue because there are so many, times have changed and Marijuana is not the "gateway" drug that the government mad Also, Marijuana is used for medical reasons because it acts as a pain reliever and induces an appetite in patients who are mal-nourished from disease. It's not for recreational purposes, its to reduce symptoms from the terminal illness.

Here are a few reasons that you didn't mention. America's jails are over crowded. We have to let real criminals get out early in order to make room for more marijuana smokers. It costs the tax payers $6.2 billion to enforce the prohibition of marijuana. Wouldn't you rather spend that money on schools and roads? When... More

When I was a teenager I knew this guy who was a self employed house painter, and an x drunk. He told me once, "The only drug you can do every day and not have it destroy your life is weed." I think he's right, especially if you use a vaporizer instead of smoking it.

Well here's the list against: 1. Marijuana can become addictive if it is used too much 2. If somebody is arrested for using marijuana, I'm sure they'll agree that it's a bad thing to use 3. It's clearly neither good for you physically or psychologically I had more, but I'm bored now.

Validity is a matter of perspective. I support the legalization of pot, and all drugs, for the same reasons. Reduce crime, create revenue. Legalize, regulate, tax.
