How long will it take to hear back from a job application?

I sent an email application for a job last sunday. When do you think I'll hear back from them? Also when should I take the initiative to call or email them as a follow up? Thanks!

You need to call them and ask if anyone has had a chance to view your resume. This lets them know that you are actually interested and not just someone mailing out blanket resumes. I would give it about business week (5 days) before I called and asked about the status of my resume.

Some job applications you send off , you wont hear back from at all. sad fact of job hunting. but i would leave it at least 1-2 weeks before chasing it up - shows you are keen and just say i was wondering if you could give me any further information on my application. good luck x
