Attending university in another country? (So many questions lol)?
I've already fully decided that I'd like to get a degree in either English Literature or Creative Writing... or both (not quite sure if that's possible?). I'm deliberating on leaving Canada and attending the University of Manchester - but, as I'm only in year nine, I have very little knowledge of everything and anything about going abroad. My first question is... how do I suggest I go about paying for it all? Between the flight, renting an apartment/dorm, food, transportation, tuition (of course), and spending money.. I'm positive it'll be a helluva lot more than I have saved up now. I do have a part time job and am currently putting away every cent I make, and hope to take a year off after graduation to get a full time job, THEN go off for university. So that might help me a little bit, but I'd really like to know more about how loans/scholarships and whatnot work... can I even apply for a scholarship if I'm going to a different country? Secondly... What would be my best method for transportation? I really don't think I'll be able to afford a car on top of all of those things, plus, the place would be brand new to me so I wouldn't have a clue how to get anywhere. I'm thinking a cab? Or perhaps a bus? I'm quite willing to walk, but I know that Manchester is about 123948029375213 times bigger than where I live and I'd have a brutally likely chance of getting lost xD Oh, and this one is kind of random, but would I be able to use my debit card there if it's from a foreign company? lol! And my last question.. do you think it's possible? In your HONEST opinion.. should I even bother trying? I've always really wanted to travel the world, and I feel like it would be such a cool experience to go about living in an entirely different society. I have confidence in myself, but I really need to know more about all this first. Thanks so much in advance (:

You would have to demonstrate up front that you can afford the fees and living costs. You're unlikely to be able to do that on your own savings. You would probably need a loan unless your parents are wealthy. Scholarships? Probably not. It's generally assumed that if you can afford to fly across the Atlantic to go to... More
