Maybe tell us if your friend works If he works and is off sick then he can get SSP = sick pay Type 2 diabetes is not classed as an illness as it is treatable by diet and exercise My boss has type 2 and works full time

If your friend is already on DLA that's all he'll get. He won't get SSP if he's not working, and if he works or gets any other benefit the DLA will stop. But basically you're right, if he's on DLA he's already "on the sick".

You only get sick pay if you are off work with an illness, unless of course you are an illegal immigrant then you will get every benefit under the sun thrown at you!
