what type/ size of air compressor would i need to sand and spray a vehicle with?

deciding on weather or not i should (as a hobby) do the body work on my truck myself. looking at different air compressor on line and don't no what size or hp would get the job done.

The size of the motor for air compressors is a good indication of longevity and reliability.

You need to see what the air tool requires for air supply.It will be listed as CFM.Sanders are usually air hogs.If you get too small of a compressor you will have to wait for it to cycle and build up pressure in the tank again.I would say at the minimum you'd want a 3 horse 20 gallon tank compressor.I prefer regular... The only air compressors that can handle body shop tools need a dual piston compressor with a large tank. If it's cheaper then $600 you don't have a big enough CFM output.

Don't use the compressor, use sand paper, not as harsh.
