What ways do a respiratory therapist communicate?

I am a college student and i have been given an assignment to find out all the ways of communication in my chosen career which is respiratory therapy. My assignment as me to focus on the ways they use language, both oral and written, in their job. All the ways that they respond to writing, all they ways that they write, all the ways they communicate with the public/clientele, and all the ways that they communicate with co-workers. Also which way feel others evaluate your performances in each of these areas. Please if possible can someone simply tell me the ways a respiratory therapist communicates throughout their career and also if it has evolved over time. Respiratory therapist communicate directly with staff and patients verbally, Many times their patients are on ventilators and cannot speak the Rt's ask yes or no questions. Rt's document treatment in the computer or on off-line treatment sheets. On a bad day communicating with RT may be a Code blue call. On Air Force... More
