Is being a farmers insurance agent a good job?

Sorry for the vague question, I want to know the aspects of the job. Do you work for yourself? Under a group? Good money even in this kind of economy? What kind of job environment? would you recommend it? Please only peoplee whom really know about this kind of job. If you worked for other companies thats fine, Thank you so much.

You work for yourself, and it's straight commission. 95% of new agents can't make enough to pay for their licensing fees. If you have no sales experience, or you aren't willing to work 60-80 hour workweeks for the first five years, I'd say you should pass on this job.

HELL NO. If you want to be an agent, be an independent agent. Contract with no minimum companies like Progressive, GMAC etc and go from there.Never be a captive agent. NEVER EVER EVER NEVER.
