What job does your dog have to do if your lifestyle doesn't fit with their normal job?

In other words, herding breeds when you don't live on a farm or have livestock. What jobs or activities have you gotten involved in with your dog instead?

Agility, playing fetch, going for lots of walks and runs, taking him to visit my friend's farm from time to time.

Herding breeds excel at Flyball and Agility. Try using puzzle boards that hide treats, or Kongs, Buster Cubes. They will help keep your dog active and mentally stimulated.

Agility and Obedience are my BC's big 2. He's also trained in flyball, and gets regular use of a Buster Cube. He also gets an immense amount of physical exercise per day with a combination of off-leash running, and weight pull.

While my Border Collies do sheep herding, we also train and compete in agility. I know plenty of herding dogs that don't do sheep, but really do well and enjoy agility.
