How will parrots react to someone who has a full time job?

I am currently a student and have been looking into getting a parrot (not sure what type yet) once I finish uni, but I am worried that if I leave it until after uni I will have a full time job and will not be able to give a parrot enough attention throughout the day. Does anyone have any advice on caring for parrots with a full time job?
