What would you charge for plumbing job?

A relative had asked my husband to do a small plumbing job for them which he did. In two hours, he replaced the bathroom faucet, drain, two supply lines and 2 shut off valves. The relative paid for all the materials however what should my husband ask for in payment in terms of labor and time? What would the average charge be in Northern California? My husband is not a professional plumber but a weekend handyman.

there should of been a price discussed before the job started if there was money involved.here's a question for you .If the house floods and there's 25,000 dollars damage is your insurance going to cover it.case closed no charge

If he's not a professional then he probably shouldn't charge anything. Also, I don't think one should charge one's relatives. If I were the relative, though, I would show my appreciation in some way. A nice dinner, a gift certificate, that sort of thing.

It is too late to ask for a price, usually relatives will shell out a couple of dollars for appreciation. Replaced all copper pipes in mother-in-law house when they got stolen. Payment: Price of parts + $55 bucks

Geese cheapskate, it's for a relative. Just take a couple of beers and call it even. You may get a favor out of them sometime.

if nobody discussed price before hand then you shouldn't charge anything. They did not have a chance to say no to the price ahead of time. A token thanks is twenty bucks or a cake or pie or cookies.
