How to set the central heating while away?

We are leaving the house empty for a few week. Can someone advise me regarding the central heating setting. Is it better to have it on all day at a low temperature on the thermostat OR to have the heating on at a higher temperature for 1 or 2 hours twice a day.

Set it to a temp that won't freeze the pipes. Use the lowest setting available about 32 degrees.Water freezes at 32 degrees. I'm sure your thermostat doesn't go that low.
