Moving to california and interested in knowing what cities people find to be "safe"?

My fiance and I are traveling to California in June and for one month we'll be checking out cities and apartments as well as taking in interviews on the way (I am a welder and have seen a lot of opportunity) So my question is what cities have people fallen in love with? What seem to be the safest cities/areas so I can keep my eyes open!! Thanks so much for your help!

Compton. Seriously. It's not as bad as the rep it gets. Maybe try the outskirts of Compton to be sure you won't get the occasional bullet, but seriously it's not that bad. But if your really that skeptical try Rancho Cucamonga. It will be super duper safe.

Why would you suggest Comptom or LA? Try something not so intense when you first move here. Northern California is definitely the safest. So-Cal sucks.

San Diego and the North San Diego County Coastal area is one of the safest and nicest places to live in the entrire country. BTW if you are a welder, NASSCO ship yard might have job openings.

There are some people pulling your leg here about which cities are safe. Compton, unfortunately, is NOT known as a "safe" city. I'm surprised someone didn't say East Los Angeles in here somewhere... More

What region of California are you interested in? Desert Communities, Los Angeles basin, Bay Area, North Coast, Central Coast, Central Valley, Redwood Empire, Inland Empire, South Coast? Once we know that we can recommend safer cities.
