how does the change of shift work for these different type of nursing jobs?

1. emergency room nurse 2. intensive care unit nurse 3. regular hospital floor nurse 4. operating room nurse ..could you please explain to me how the shifts work separately for each of those individual nursing jobs? thanks

Most hospitals do not use "rotating shifts" for RN's. Some do, but those are few and far between. Many find that doing that doesn't promote employee job satisfaction and eventually do away with it. Some people like the rotation, but usually hire into that kind of position, sort of like a "job pool" within the nursing... More

I have worked in the ER & the ICU; in those places change really works like any where-the new nurse sits down with the outgoing nurse (since patient care is 1:1, 1:2, 1:3) and goes over the patient. It is nice then to have the outgoing introduce the new nurse to the patient.
