Is white rice bad for weight loss?

Everywhere I look they say white rice is bad for weight loss, but white rice is a staple of the chinese and japanese diet and chinese and japanese people are known for the lack of obesity. I'm low on money and I am thinking of pairing 3 cups of rice a day with multi vitamins and vegetables until I get another job. Is this bad for weight loss and health.

White rice is "bad" because it is only carbohydrates, that's why you hear that. Chinese and Japanese (my wife is both) are skinny because of the portions they eat and the lack of saturated fats in the diet...We eat white rice constantly...she makes it with japanese seasoning packets and we eat riceballs...but if I was... White rice is mostly starch. Combined with fat, it would be bad for weight loss. With steamed vegetables you can get a reasonable diet. Brown rice instead of white would be better for you.

Hi! so white rice will not specifically make you gain weight everyday but it is CARBS so don't eat it everyday. My brother stopped eating white rice and he lost 10 pounds in 3 months (not a lot but he needed to bc he was a little over weight). With that said.
