Why I feel guilty for breaking up with him?

I broke up with my boyfriend two days ago.We have been together for a month and a half. He shouted at me on a couple of occasions second time when he did so I told him I don't like to be shouted and he said this is the way he express his anger and if I can't take it I am not good for him. Then I sent him a text not to bother me anymore. Now I feel guilty and really don't know why. We had plans to spend the Valentines together he paid for a spa day for us and for some entertainment for the next day. We bought for each other very expensive presents for Valentine day and we had holiday planned together after a few weeks. He did not contacted me since I sent him the text not to bother me anymore. I really don't want tlo call him because I want to keep my pride and my friends think he is the one who benefiting from our relationship and I am the looser because he has nothing to offer me and if he can't make me happy then it is not worth. He was very nice and sweet in the begining but recently become very possesive wanted always to be on his and very controlling. He is even not attractive my friends says he is even ugly he has no his place he lives with his mother and earn much less money than me.I even didn't noriced him in the begining until he sent me an expensive flowers to my workplace and I decided he deserves a chanse. Today I feel guilty and sad and I don't understand why? He met me with his family as well and told me he wants to spend the rest of his life with me. This makes me even more guilty like I betrayed him.

It's perfectly normal to feel that way, but it has nothing to do with going back on your decision.
