How do I become an x-ray technician, and what are the pros/cons of this job?

I am fascinated by x-rays, am introverted, love to help other people, and do NOT want radiation exposure (is this job unsafe because of that?) Thanks for any info you can give me on this career!

The people who work in hospitals are radiologic technologists, not x-ray technicians. Being introverted could be an issue - all you will be doing is dealing with people. Supposedly, working as a radiologic technologist or around x-rays is NOT supposed to be too hazardous to one's health. A radiologic technologist (or "radiographer") usually has an associate (two-year) degree. The program must be accredited within the industry in order to possibly get a job... More
