What is covered in an employee background check?

I have been out of the job search market for quite someone. In fact, I have been at my most recent position nearly six years. Recently got a job offer and they are just going to do the background check. I am just curious what this covers. I am a legit person, education and job history – all honest and correct, no criminal record, no history of civil suits but I have less than perfect credit. Do you think that less than perfect credit disqualifies you for a job?

a background check for MOST employers is public information based on your name, aliases, address, former address, birth date, social security number and state issued ID/drivers license number... More
