Why won't all Americans suffer for the future?
I feel bothered by the state of the nation with endless debt. As someone younger who will be burdened by the debt, I blame all the problems on all political parties and the older Americans who are unwilling to sacrifice even slightly for the sake of the nation. The debt was accumulated by the choices of older Americans. They chose stupid wars, excessive benefit programs, pouring money into military, social, and scientific programs which obviously haven't benefit the US much. The spending has been endless and pork filled forever. Now with the nation so screwed up those old folks who benefitted in the past form the spending in one way or another still want so much in their retirement years. Things need to change right now. Everyone young and poor need to sacrifice to make things better. Taxes should be raised, all programs should be cut and some people must lose jobs. We can solve the problem if everyone takes a hit. It needs to be complete across the board and all programs and individuals need to be involved with no exceptions. One stubborn group in my opinion are the retirees. These people need to accept cuts and change their plans. Why should all the failures of the past be dumped on future generations. The wealthy need to sacrifice too. Taxes double what they were after WW2 for the wealthy and corporations and still the nation grew. We can do this all of us. The poor need to accept the loss of services to some extent. The handicapped too. The students too. The middle class too. Government employees need to sacrifice too. Everyone must give for the sake of our current problem. It was done during WW2, why can't it be done now? What are your thoughts?

To be honest Europe has repaired itself, faced its new position in the world & moved on. Germany with the burden of East... More

I am young, I want to make a REAL change in this country. This country will just collapse if it keeps going this way.

Historically speaking, I have been tightening my belt for every president since Nixon imposed wage and price controls. Smaller government, less pork. I've suffered my share already.

Before you start criticizing older Americans you better stop and think also about the wonderful things they have done. Like that computer and internet you are enjoying to start with.
