Insurance Premium Auditor vs Tax Auditor (IRS) vs Big four?
I currently work in Fund accounting at a relatively large corporation in the Los Angeles area and was recently offered a position as an Insurance Premium Auditor with a small firm. It's an independent contractor position that pays $35/hour starting but with no benefits or mileage reimbursement. I was hoping to get into Tax Auditing (IRS) or some sort of Auditing work down the road and was wondering if auditing jobs (Big 4, IRS, etc) would look highly at experience from Premium Auditing work with a small company? I plan to go back to school for a master's of taxation when I save enough money and ultimately get my CPA. Should I take this Insurance Premium Auditing job? Has anyone had experience with this type of work? Im currently 25. Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.
